Hello, what's up guys :)

Sorry for my English, but I don't really understand much of your language.

I found your portal cause it was linked to our one, http://linux-bg.org

How are the things going in your country? Do you have a strong community there, do you organize seminars, fests, etc? Is your government as corrupt and proprietary-loving as ours?

Do you have any local linux-related projects, userspace/kernelspace developers?

And I also would like to know do you have a RedHat local office and certification programmes for RedHat held there?

Thanks for reading this :) Regards :)

P.S. my website is at http://gat3way.fcdunav.com

Well, I'd say they are as proprietary-loving as they can be. We'll see if anything changes after the elections that are about to happen on this sunday.

I think we are ok community, don't know what exactly should be a strong one. If you mean "do we have a word in the government what and how should be done" then no, we are not that strong, but we do organize seminars, installfests, translation marathones and are also vocal in local media (TV, IT magazines and similar).

It could be better, of course, but I think that, all things considered, we are quite fine, especially since we exist as an organized group (LUG) for over 10 years.

We have several linux-related projects, don't know about kernelspace developers...

Yes, privately held by a commercial representative.

Hello again :)

I'm glad things are moving there :) We are also active here (though I'm far from being the social type). We have conferences, the OpenFest with international guests there, install fests, etc. But the government FOSS adoption is what we fail at. It seems that Microsoft and Cisco thrive on corrupt country like mine :(

Can you provide me more info on the Croatian projects? E.g do you maintain your Croatian distro?

And about the RHEL representative...OK, but are there RHCE exams in Croatia? I'm asking about that because in BG we can't do that, the nearest place is Romania.

We have some local projects too...anyway I'm proud that the NTFS support leader is a Bulgarian, some of the 9p project leaders too..kernel development is my obsession, that's the reason :)

Keep it going.

Tell us, do you have any FLOSS-friendly computer magazines and/or journalists there?

Hello (and sorry for the late reply),

We have some magazines, but they are not very popular IMO:

http://spisanie.cc/ (I don't really know if there is a paper version of this now)

http://vestnik.hbcom.info/news.php

Anyway, most Bulgarian FOSS/linux-resources are on the net and people are not very much interested in making papers/magazines, etc.

We have many activists though. There is a court battle against the Government by our FOSS community because of the recent Microsoft deals. Overall there are many activists here, though I'm not really into those activities.

Anyway, our recent Openfest 2007 gained lots of media attention, it was even in the TV news AFAIK (I don't watch TV usually but read about it).
